Trapped in a moment

She spat at the mirror.
She punched it with her fist.
Between her left boot and the floorboards
her boot ground at it.
While she could no longer see
her hated reflection,
she could still feel herself
trapped in its prison.
From the inside
her skeleton clawed at her flesh
while the reverberating scream
in her head deemed her deaf.
The windows of her body
could see no more
as her mind no longer
made sense at all.
So she wanders in darkness
searching for relief
knowing it can be found
by thinking positive.
But that’s easier said than done
when her body is busted
and her true self is bound up
in this seemingly endless moment.
